The archive

The house has kept a complete record of what it staged since the first night in 1897, with a two-year gap where the 1911 fire took the ledgers. The archive is open by appointment to anyone; you do not need to be a researcher and you do not need a reason.

What survives: cast sheets for almost everything, set models for most productions since 1950, prompt books from 1913, and about four thousand photographs of which perhaps a third are catalogued. The gaps are honest gaps and we would rather say so than fill them in.
